Diving headfirst
into the icy waters of crystal mountain pools The exhilarating sting And
breathless soul
searching
in the gardens
of the oceans Windswept with the brackish breath of the Cape of Storms My hantamwind Thundering drums Electrical storms Ripping through the skies Waking My thirst Parched lips and hot sweat under the Kalahari sun
These are my dark stares Unspoken words Between the lines Live My forbidden desires The intense Want to hold on To anyone who will Stay through the fleeting years Knowing the true Face behind my mask and loving them Unconditionally What is friendship in my all or nothing world? I know of brothers and lovers Loyalty and sacrifice What is friendship if not love? I have but one true friend O sthandwa’sam Yet I crave to be known
and understood by more Who can look into my eyes and know? In this world where there is never enough love Dare I love too much? © 2024 Marieke de Koker
